It’s time to start planning and promoting your signing or distribution party now. As you plan your event, remember these three success factors: Creating ExcitementAlerting Parents and Offering Incentives.

CREATE EXCITEMENT FOR YOUR EVENT

If they don’t know about it, they won’t attend. Make sure the entire campus is aware of your distribution day event and why it is a special day. Spread the word.

- Display posters on campus.

- Distribute flyers to classrooms.

- Create daily announcements letting students know about the event and how
many books are still available for sale.

- Create “Hey, you’re in the Yearbook” sticky notes and send to non-buyers that
   appear on your non-buyer list.

- Post the event on social media (multiple times).

- Have your staff create a commercial promoting the yearbook

ALERT PARENTS TO THE EVENT

Parents are the people with the pocket-books. Make sure they are aware of the distribution day event. A parent may be more interested in purchasing a yearbook than the student.

- Send a message home to parents telling them of the yearbook delivery day
  party.

  - Post a notice on the school website.

  - Put a message on the school marquee.

Offer accessories including plastic covers, additional autograph pages, and markers or fun pens for autographs at the event. You might be surprised at how much money you can make from yearbook accessories. Include information on yearbook accessories available for purchase in the message to parents so they know to send money with their student.

OFFER INCENTIVES TO ATTENDEES

Give students a reason to want to attend. For example, if you come to the party, you get your yearbook sooner or a free autograph page or a discount on next year’s book. Here are other incentives to offer. Whatever you choose to do, make sure to promote it on your flyers.

- Play popular music at the event

  - Have a slideshow of photos running in the background.

  - Offer snacks.

  - Sell yearbook accessories

  - Sell extra books (from this and previous years)
