Before your staff launches into this year’s production, use the 5 Rs of Theme Development to evaluate your choice.

1. Is it recognizable? The theme is the brand for the school year. It is memorable, both verbally and visually. Consider designing a logo.

2. Is it repeatable? The theme is repeated in some form or variation.

3. Is it relevant? The theme presents students’ lives as they are in 2015-16.

4. Is it realistic? The theme is honest; it tells it like it is.

5. Is it refreshing? The concept provides a platform to present different and varied angles to coverage.
