Balfour congratulates Baylor University’s student media program for its outstanding achievement. When the Columbia Scholastic Press Association announced its most prestigious awards for collegiate publications, three Baylor publications won Crown awards: the “Roundup” (yearbook), the “Lariat” (newspaper) and the “Focus” (magazine).
“Balfour is extremely proud to be associated with Baylor’s ‘best of class’ organization,” Mike Parker, Senior Vice President of Balfour, said. “It’s rare for a single college to be awarded three Crowns in the same year. This demonstrates the level of excellence in Baylor University’s publications.”
This year, 1,203 digital/print newspapers, magazines and yearbooks were eligible for judging in the 2015 Crown Awards Program. Of those 1,203 publications, only 39 were recognized with a Crown. Only one university in the United States received three Crowns – Baylor.
The CSPA Crown Awards are just the latest recognition of Baylor student journalists working for student media. So far this year, national recognition has come from Editor & Publisher Magazine, the Associated College Press, College Media Association, Society of News Design and the Society of Professional Journalists. Regional recognition has come from SPJ and CASE and Texas recognition has come from the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association and the Houston Press Club.
