Three Balfour yearbooks received student journalism’s highest honor, the Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker Award, at the National College Media Convention in Philadelphia.
The Pacemaker competition is college journalism’s most prestigious and oldest prize for excellence, first given in 1927. Professionals judge yearbook entries for their journalism, photography and design. The awards honor those who set the pace, surpassing all others.

A Pacemaker finalist was awarded to the Bruin Life staff of the University of California, Los Angeles. Bruin Life is advised by Arvli Ward and edited by Jose Fredi Hernandez.
The Associated Collegiate Press (ACP) Awards were held on Saturday, November 1 at the 93rd ACP/CMA National College Media Convention. Judging was for the school’s 2013 yearbooks.
