The Columbia Scholastic Press Association honored 12 Balfour yearbooks with Crown awards in New York City recently. The Crown Awards recognize the top student publications in news, magazine, yearbook and digital formats at the middle school, high school and collegiate level. Publications are selected for their excellence in design, photography, concept, coverage and writing.
The 12 books, nine high school and three college, were announced as finalists in December. The college Crowns were announced at the College Media Association convention in New York City, March 8. Baylor University and North Carolina State University received Silver Crowns while the University of Miami received a Gold Crown.
The middle school and high school winners were announced at the CSPA Spring Scholastic Convention, March 22 at Columbia University. Seven Balfour schools received Silver Crowns: Claudia Taylor Johnson High School, Granite Bay High School, Hill Country Christian School, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy, Memorial High School, St. Thomas’ Episcopal School and The Hockaday School. Klein Collins High School and Vista Ridge High School received Gold Crowns.
The Crown awards are for the 2018 yearbooks.
