Four yearbook photographers were named finalists Thursday for the 2019 Photo of the Year by the National Scholastic Press Association. The judges selected 10 finalists in each of four categories, choosing from 952 submitted images.

“These images tell remarkable visual stories,” Gary Lundgren, NSPA associate director and contest coordinator, said. “The quality of photojournalism on the high school level is remarkable and often rivals the work of professionals.”

The four finalists are from Texas schools, Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park, Bridgeland High School in Cypress, Aledo High School in Aledo, and Claudia Taylor Johnson High School in San Antonio.

The winners will be announced at the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention, Nov. 23 in Washington D.C.
