Since most everyone’s away from the classroom, let’s make the best of the situation. Share your best “Distanced, but Connected” and “In a New Light” photos for recognition and a chance at one of several prizes.
Our semi-annual Great Shot contest is back, starting Nov. 9 and running through Dec. 6. We have two brand new categories that are ideal in our current circumstances. Enter your best socially distant and remote learning photos in “Distanced, but Connected.” For “In a New Light,” we want to see your artistic side, focusing on light and shadows.
The contest is a way to showcase and reinforce photo skills. In addition to extra camera practice, the entries could turn into a photography grade. Plus, there’s the possibility of winning a prize. We’ll choose four photos in each category, sending gift cards to the winners.
1st place: $500
2nd place: $250
3rd place: $100
We’ll also choose two winners in the K-8 category, with $300 for first place and $100 for second place. And per tradition, we’ll give away $50 gift cards in the People’s Choice category for the photo with the top votes in each category. Vote for your favorites on our Facebook page.
Both of these past winners would qualify for our “In a New Light” category. They placed in the Fall 2019 Leading Lines contest. Maydelyn N. of Portola High School won first place with this silhouette shot, Kara Ann D. of Jefferson West High School received an honorable mention of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at night.
