Halfway through March, you're submitting final pages or hitting your stride for summer and fall deliveries. Either way, you need a well-deserved break. Sometimes, the easiest way to make it through a deadline is to walk away from the deadline.
1. Take a walk. You've been spending too many hours at your desk and in your classroom. Think of us as your Fitbit reminder: go for a stroll in the hallway, chat with another teacher, step outside for a few minutes.
2. Set a timer. After school, it's really easy to tell yourself Just 10 more minutes... and the next thing you know an hour has gone by. Instead, set a timer for how much longer you want to spend. When it goes off, go home. Period.
3. Connect with journalism colleagues. No one on your campus understands your yearbook problems. But we do. Share your frustrations and celebrate milestones with fellow advisers. (Happy hours and dinner are fun ways to do this.) Also, don’t forget about the Balfour Advisers Facebook group for commiserating and celebrating.
