Eight schools placed in design, photo, story and portfolio categories of NSPA’s 2019 Individual Awards.
Balfour swept the top two places in the Yearbook Spread category of NSPA’s Design of the Year Awards. The Lone Star staff’s Logan Dorsey and Mia Moore of Bowie High School were named the national champions for their theater spread. The Tigrium’s Tara Carroll and Caroline Dixon of Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy took second place for their volleyball spread.
In addition, eight schools placed in additional design, photo, story and portfolio categories at the high school and middle school level of NSPA’s Individual Awards. NSPA named 10 finalists in each category in October. All of the winners were announced Saturday, Nov. 23 at an awards ceremony during the JEA/NSPA Fall National High School Journalism Convention in Washington DC.
