June, July and August are teachers' favorite months of the year. It's not that you don't love teaching, you just appreciate the breaks. Especially the long ones. You can finally turn off that alarm clock and settle in for sun, sleep and summer.
-Go on that trip you've been thinking about all year.
-Binge watch a whole series on Netflix or Hulu.
-Switch roles and become a student again, taking a class on painting, woodworking or whatever interests you.
-Take a day trip to a nearby town and wander around the local shops and eateries.
-Act like a kid again. Make arts and crafts with your own kids. Swing at the park. Go to the batting cages.
-Read the books your friends have been talking about.
-Splurge on that fancy restaurant you've always wanted to try.
In short, have some me-time to do things you enjoy doing or always wanted to try. Taking time to relax, recharge and reconnect will ultimately make you a better and happier teacher. Have a great summer—you've earned it!
One final tip for the year: We couldn't say goodbye without inviting you to go "Spark" new yearbook ideas at our Adviser Workshop. It's a fun weekend of training, networking and inspiration, July 12-15. We hope to see you there!
