Tuesday’s Tip: Let’s Make Some Noise for National Yearbook Week!

Did you know National School Yearbook Week has been around for nearly 40 years?

In 1987, Congress designated the week beginning October 4 as National School Yearbook Week, and President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation recognizing the important role yearbooks play in preserving the history and memories of our schools. The proclamation also celebrated the valuable skills students develop through yearbook—including writing, photography, design, teamwork and business.

Nearly four decades later, that’s still worth celebrating!

But National Yearbook Week is also a great opportunity to remind your school community that the memories you’re creating today deserve a place in the yearbook —but it’s also the perfect time to boost your sales!

This year, challenge your staff to use the week to get people talking about the yearbook, sharing the yearbook and, most importantly, BUYING the yearbook.

The best part? You don’t have to add another thing to your own to-do list. Assign each day to a different group of students and let them take the lead. Here’s an easy five-day plan:

📣 Make Some Noise Monday

Start the week by making sure everyone knows the yearbook is on sale! Challenge your staff to get your sales message in as many places as possible—social media, morning announcements, hallway TVs, posters, QR codes, parent emails and club or team accounts.

The challenge: Reach someone who hasn’t heard your sales message yet.

👥 Tell Your Story Tuesday

Put the people behind the yearbook front and center. Share a staff photo, create a Reel, introduce staff members or give your school a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating the book.

The message: We’re working all year to tell your story. Make sure you get a copy!

❤️ Why Buy Wednesday

Give your audience a reason to want the yearbook. Ask staff members to finish the sentence “Yearbook matters because…” or spotlight the memories, friendships, activities and traditions being captured this year.

Then ask your audience: What from this year will you want to remember 10 years from now?

⏪ Don’t Miss It Thursday

Dig into the archives! Share an old yearbook photo, find a funny fashion trend or hairstyle, revisit a school tradition or have your students recreate a photo from an old book.

Then connect yesterday's memories to today's sale:

Someday, THIS year will be the throwback. Make sure you have the book.

👀 FOMO Friday

Finish the week with a sneak peek! Share an amazing photo, funny quote, headline, tiny piece of your cover or cropped section of a spread—but don’t give everything away.

The message: Want to see the rest? You’ll need the yearbook.
