Fall is here and so is the Great Shot Photo Contest! Our semi-annual photography competition is back for its fall semester iteration and we have two great categories for you to enter.
Two Categories: Autumn and Leading Lines
Autumn
For the first time in our Great Shot history, we’re using the season as our category topic. Bring on the lattes, leaves and Thanksgiving dinner photos. Show us anything and everything that represents the autumn season for you. The more creative you are, the better. And just a hint—we know football is a big deal at most schools, but that’s not what we’re thinking of when we think of “autumn.”
Leading Lines
Our secondary category also has a creative edge. We’re looking for leading lines, one of the fundamental composition principles of photography. Leading lines, whether they’re physical or suggested, should draw your attention to the subject of the photo. Again, creativity and impact will play a large part in the photos we choose.
Prizes
We have $2200 in prize money to give away! At the high school and college level, we’ll choose three winners in each category, awarding $500 for first place. We also have a K-8 category and a People’s Choice award.
How to Play
Visit the Balfour website or Facebook to submit photos. Photographers can enter up to three photos per day (this includes adviser shutterbugs too). The contest runs from Nov. 11-Dec. 1. Please note People’s Choice voting is only available via Facebook. Throughout the contest, we’ll share photos on social media. We’re looking forward to seeing your great shots! #balfourgreatshot
