The Great Shot Photo Contest is back! And the assignment is unlike any we’ve done before: Out of the Classroom. So grab you cameras and start snapping.
While we normally offer two categories, the last few weeks haven proven that nothing is normal these days. It wouldn’t do any good to ask you to photograph clubs or sports right now. So, we’re focusing on one category.
Out of the Classroom
While we’re only offering one assignment, we are leaving the parameters wide open. Whether you’re social distancing, remote learning, playing board games, we want to see it all! If you have compelling photos related to the coronavirus crisis, we’re interested in those too.

Advisers, the contest is a way to showcase, reinforce and reward photo skills. Plus, the entries could serve as a photo assignment and grade in these virtual learning times.
Prizes
We have lots of prize money to give away! At the high school and college level, we’ll choose three winners, awarding $500 for first place, $250 for second and $100 for third. And since there’s only one category, we’re giving $50 for each Honorable Mention. We will still have a K-8 category ($300 for first, $100 for second) and a People’s Choice award ($50).
How to Play
Visit the Balfour website or Facebook to submit photos. Photographers can enter one photo per day (this includes adviser shutterbugs too). The contest runs from April 6-24. Please note People’s Choice voting is only available via Facebook.
Throughout the contest, we’ll share photos on social media. We’re looking forward to seeing your great shots! #balfourgreatshot
P.S. - Stay tuned for two additional contests coming soon to help engage and motivate your staff!
